Colin Macfarlane

Colin’s running career began at age 7 when he first joined his local grade school track team. He found early success and had achieved times of 2:30 for 800 meters and 5:30 for 1600 meters by the time he reached 8th grade. His early success continued in high school where he competed in both Cross Country Track and Field posting times of 2:01 for 800 meters, 4:36 for 1600 meters and 16:53 for 5k.

He was subsequently recruited to run collegiately for division 1A Monmouth University before dropping off the team after 1 injury riddled year. Colin took several years off from running until after college and began his marathon running phase. From 2013 through 2019, he ran 6 marathons, including two Boston Marathons, posting a PR of 2:55:35.

Colin then took another hiatus from competitive running while becoming a father until January of 2024 when he started working with Platt Peaks coaching. Motivated by a desire to live up to his D1 recruitment and under the tutelage of Platt Peaks, Colin’s running really went to the next level posting PRS at every level including 16:18 for 5k, 26:51 for 8k, 34:20 for 10k, and 1:16:48 for the half marathon. He also competed in the USATF Mid Atlantic Grand Prix, placing 3rd overall in his age category. Moving forward Colin hopes to work towards sub 16 for the 5k, sub 26 for the 8k and sub 34 for the 10k, and he knows Platt Peaks will help him get there.
